School of Arts and Sciences

  • The department is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in networking/cybersecurity, machine intelligence, and data science/data engineering. However, applicants with expertise in any area of Computer Science will be considered.

    Position Description: The applicant is expected to teach undergraduate computer science courses at all levels. The applicant will also have opportunities to teach in an Applied Data Science Master’s program. The workload is equivalent to 12 credit hours per semester. Responsibilities for the position also include curriculum development, research, advising, and service to the department.

    Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, completed before August 2024, or equivalent work experience, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and scholarly research.

School of Education and Professional Studies

  • We invite applications from candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, research activity and scholarship, student advisement, university and community service. Eastern’s College of Business is especially interested in faculty with demonstrated innovation and excellence in teaching in a liberal arts curriculum, and sensitivity to diverse populations and perspectives.

    Position Description: The new hire will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and in the graduate program in management. Teaching excellence is the primary focus for the position, followed by a strong research record/potential, and service to the department, University, and community.  

    Qualifications: A terminal degree in the field of business, management or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. ABD candidates close to completion will also be considered. Candidates who have primary experience or expertise (teaching, research, or practice) in organizational behavior and human resources are preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, scholarly and professional activities, and a willingness to be active in service to the University and community.

Athletics

  • Women’s Rugby Coach (Club Sports)  

    The Student Activities Office at Eastern Connecticut State University seeks a part time Women’s Rugby Club Sport coach. This position will work under the supervision of the Director of Student Activities in conjunction with the Department of Athletics. 

    Qualifications: 

    • Working knowledge of the sport and ability to demonstrate, critique and develop safe rugby skills and practices.
    • 2 years of  Rugby coaching experience preferred (collegiate)
    • Minimum of 2 years playing experience preferred (collegiate)
    • CPR/AED and First Aid certification
    • USA Rugby coaching certification (200 level or higher)
    • Knowledge of all aspects of program management including budgeting, recruiting, scheduling, staff supervision, travel planning.
    • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, experience with Microsoft office.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Moderate amount of experience with athletic coaching, collegiate playing, or other related experience.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a university-owned or rented van.

  • Eastern Connecticut State University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach. This position is a part-time 10 month contract.

    Under the supervision of the Athletic Director and the Head Coach, assistant coaching duties will be assigned by head coach and will include administration, coaching, and recruiting for the ECSU Men’s Lacrosse program

    1. Support head coach in ensuring that all matters related to the team’s student-athletes adhere to NCAA and Little East Conference rules and regulations
    1. Provide a climate in which participating athletes can strive for individual and group improvement and excellence
    1. Participate in coordinating, strategy, and planning meetings of the coaching staff
    1. Instruct student-athletes about skills and execution needed to perform the sport of lacrosse effectively and competitively

Part-time Faculty Positions

  • Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking two adjunct faculty members to teach the Data Visualization and Databases and Big Data Systems courses in the Applied Data Science MS program. Course preparation will begin Spring 2024 and the course will run Fall 2024. 

    Specific Requirements: 

    • Data visualization: Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and coding frameworks (e.g., in R, Python) for data visualization
    • Databases and Big Data Systems: Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, and frameworks for processing large, distributed datasets

    General Requirements: 

    • Master’s degree or 5+ years work experience in a related field

  • The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology, and Social Work seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach SOC 312—The Sociology of Mental Illness—in the Spring 2024 semester.  SOC 312 is a required course for Sociology majors who declare a concentration in Mental Health. The course is taken as an elective by students majoring in criminology, sociology, anthropology, social work, public health, and other subjects.  

    The course is 3 credit hours. Its enrollment cap is 40 students. It is currently scheduled to meet on-ground weekly on Wednesdays from 4-6:45 pm, although it is possible that this could change based on the instructor’s preference. The Spring 2024 semester runs from January 17 to May 12.

    Demonstrated credibility in the particular sport as well as coaching expertise on both general and specific levels and ability to evaluate oneself and the program with respect to the general educational goals and objectives of the athletic programs are also required.

    These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience. 

    Anticipated start date for this position is August 2023.  Part-time with no benefits and annual salary range is $6000-$12,000.

  • Adjunct faculty in 3D Animation (Blender) 

    The Department of Art & Art History at Eastern Connecticut State University seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach ART 343 Introduction to 3D Animation in Spring 2024. ART 343 is an elective course for the Digital Art & Media Design and Illustration Concentrations, providing students an introduction to and exploration of the 3D workflow, including hard-surface and organic-surface modeling, materials & textures, lighting, rigging, animation, and rendering. Primary software: Blender. 

    The course is 3 credits, capped at 20 students, and meet on-ground twice a week (2hour 45 minutes per class). 

    The Art major at Eastern is an interdisciplinary program with concentrations in Art History, Digital Art & Media Design, Illustration, and Studio Art. Courses are taught in the new Fine Arts Instructional Center. 

    An MFA degree in Animation or a related field is preferable, or extensive 3D Animation working experiences. Teaching experience in higher education is a plus.     Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to assist with daily operations of the financial aid office. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director will assist with general duties, including but not limited to:

    • Delivers exemplary customer service to prospective and continuing students and families in planning and coordinating the funding of their education.
    • Manage a dedicated caseload, providing students and their families with individualized counseling in all aspects of the financial aid process, including federal verification, alternative financing, and responsible debt management.
    • Provide regular outreach and follow-up to students on outstanding items such as incomplete or missing loan applications, financial aid forms, and other documents required for packaging.
    • Determine financial aid eligibility of students based on institutional, state, and federal regulations.
    • Perform regular file reviews to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations; adjust student aid packages and adjust funds based on changes to students' enrollment statuses.
    • Exercise discretion and demonstrate strong professional judgment when making decisions in special or complex circumstances; seek assistance from the Director and, when appropriate, provide recommendations to best resolve these cases.

    Part-time Teachers Aide (University Assistant): 19 hours/week 

     

    Job Description 

    Support  the mission  of the Child  and Family  Development   Resource  Center  to provide  state  of the art, best teaching  practices  to meet the needs of children  and families.  

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Under the supervision of the Director of the Child and Family Development Resource Center, the University Assistant will:  

    1. Assist in teaching young children providing for individual needs in all areas of development and arranging classroom and outdoor environment to meet developmental needs. 
    1. Collaborate with a classroom teaching team to plan and carry out classroom curriculum based on goals from the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood. 
    1. Demonstrate an ability to lead a classroom (i.e. group time, story time). 
    1. Assist the classroom team in assuring that licensing regulations are upheld. 
    1. Maintain and improve professional competence by participating in monthly Center-wide team meetings and/or development. 
    1. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.

    • Contribute to the success of various student recruitment efforts targeting prospective applicants to the University.
    • Review and score application materials submitted by applicants for the purposes of making admission decisions.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree with some admissions counseling and/or student outreach experience, or equivalent.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to travel to remote locations. Must be able to load, transport, and set up admissions materials, displays, and other equipment. Some evening and weekend hours are required, especially during fall and spring travel seasons.
    • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.

    Compensation

    • The Admissions Assistant will earn $35 per hour and may work up to 19 hours per week throughout the academic year.
