Fall First-Year Student Guide

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR

ADMISSION TO EASTERN!

Dare to be extraordinary at Eastern Connecticut State University. It's a place where a love of learning is palpable - and the drive to make a difference is even more so. You are officially on your way to becoming a Warrior! This guide will help ensure that you are fully prepared for the start of the fall 2023 semester. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Take a moment to enjoy this incredible milestone in your life – you’re going to college!
Take a photo with your acceptance packet to commemorate the occasion. If you post it on Instagram or TikTok and tag @WhyEastern, we could feature you on our page!
  • If you have not already completed your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), be sure to do so as soon as possible to ensure a timely financial aid offer. If Eastern has already received your FAFSA, your aid offer will be enclosed in your admission packet. You may also view your offer online by following steps 1-10 on this page: www.easternct.edu/accept-aid
  • Your Office 365 e-mail account is the primary source of communication between you and Eastern. Prior to arriving to campus, you will receive emails to inform you about placement testing, housing, financial aid, and registration. Your account credentials are also used to access eWeb to submit your deposits, register for classes, view your financial aid, and more. View instructions on how to activate your Office 365 account; please refer to your acceptance letter for your Eastern ID, username, and email address.
  • Commit to being a Warrior! Deposits must be submitted to reserve courses and residence hall space by May 1, 2023. The University reserves the right to return deposits received after enrollment capacity has been reached. View step-by-step instructions for paying your deposit(s).

Students living on campus: $450 non-refundable tuition and housing deposit.

Students living off campus: $200 non-refundable tuition deposit.
  • Visit Housing & Residential Life's website for detailed application instructions after submitting the deposit(s) in Step 4. On the housing application, you may rank your top three residence halls. Want a refresher of the different options available for first-year students? Click here for a brief overview.

Hall placement will be determined in a first-come, first-served manner based on the date your housing deposit is submitted. Hall assignments do not begin until April 15. Be sure to check your Eastern email account for updates after this date.
  • SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) is an overnight orientation program in the summer designed to introduce all new first-year students to life on campus. You’ll meet other new students, student leaders, faculty and staff, become acclimated to campus and finalize your class schedule. You must submit your non-refundable tuition deposit prior to reserving a SOAR date.

New first-year students must also complete our Orientation Online program. This will include videos, resources and checklists, and you will have the opportunity to return to these modules as an additional resource.

To register for in-person SOAR and to access Orientation Online, visit www.easternct.edu/orientation.

    In-Person Orientation Dates: June 20-21, June 22-23, June 26-27, June 29-30

Orientation Online completion deadline: August 18, 2023
